The Minimalists Definition of Minimalism
As defined by Josh and Ryan at The Minimalists.com, Minimalism is:
‘A tool to rid yourself of life’s excess in favour of focusing on what’s important—so you can find happiness, fulfilment, and freedom.’
This tool assists in the prioritisation of what is important and allows us to put our relationships, health and passion first. Beginning with what we own; the things, stuff and excess possessions, we can analyse which items no longer bring us joy or serve a purpose and make a conscious choice to part with them.
There isn’t a one size fits all nor a set of rules. You have the power to create your own definition and a guidebook if you wish. Whether you choose to fit all that you own inside a backpack to travel the world, downsize to a smaller home or simply part with your junk draw; ‘each path leads to the same place: a life with more time, more money, and more freedom to live a more meaningful life.’
